American Country Pine Three-Drawer Bachelors Chest, 19th Century 16”X36”X29” - FOR PICK UP OR SHIPPING ONLY: This is an American Country pine three-drawer bachelors chest, also known as a cottage chest, dating to the mid-to-late 19th century. The piece features a utilitarian design with rounded front corner stiles and exposed small nail construction. The primary wood is pine with a warm amber-toned finish, while the backboards are constructed of secondary pine. The back consists of three wide, horizontally oriented pine planks nailed directly into the frame. The chest is fitted with six turned wooden mushroom-style knobs, two per drawer. Traces of original or early green and red paint are visible along the top and side edges of the backboards, indicating an earlier painted surface. There are no visible makers marks, stamps, or labels on the exterior or back of the piece.
