United Metal Goods Mfg. Co. Model 640 Royal Coach Electric Mantel Clock 5”X21”X9” - A vintage United Metal Goods Manufacturing Company, Inc. Model 640 Royal Coach novelty electric mantel clock. The clock case is designed as an ornate Rococo-style carriage featuring decorative scrollwork, cherub figures at the front and rear, and a crown finial with a cross. The carriage is drawn by a team of four horses in mid-stride, connected to the coach and each other by silver-toned ball chains. The assembly is mounted on a finished rectangular wooden base. The circular dial features a cream-colored ground with an ornate scrollwork center and black Roman numerals. The dial is marked with the United logo in script. The reverse of the clock movement retains an original paper label stating Model No. 640, manufactured by United Metal Goods Mfg. Co. Inc. in Brooklyn, New York. Technical specifications listed include AC current only, 115 volt, 60 cycles, and 2 watts.
