Antique Style Cast Iron Wall-Mounted Mailbox with Architectural Relief 3”X6”X12” - An antique style American wall-mounted mailbox constructed of cast iron. This early 20th-century piece features a protruding, rounded mail compartment set against a vertical backplate. The front of the compartment is decorated with the word MAIL in raised serif block lettering. Below the mail slot is a decorative relief casting of a classical building facade, resembling a Greek temple, with a triangular pediment and four vertical slats that function as viewing windows to check for mail. The box is equipped with a top-loading hinged lid featuring decorative ears at the hinge points. A cast iron hasp is located on the front to allow for a padlock. The body is finished in a weathered blue paint over the original surface. The interior lid contains raised casting marks that are obscured by oxidation and thick paint. The backplate is a contemporary replacement made of galvanized sheet metal, secured to the cast iron frame by tabs and a single screw. 3”X6”X12”
