Antique Victorian Wood Gingerbread Mantel Clock Attributed to Waterbury 5”X13”X19” - This late 19th-century American Victorian mantel clock is designed in the gingerbread or kitchen style. The wooden case, potentially walnut or oak, is decorated with pressed and carved scrollwork, featuring an architectural peaked top and a carved leaf-form finial. The clock face is protected by an arched glass door. The circular metal dial features Roman numerals and black spade-style hands. Two winding arbors on the dial suggest an eight-day striking movement that sounds on the hour and half-hour. The pendulum features a decorative brass bob embossed with a bird, possibly a crane or heron, amidst marsh reeds. A double-ended brass winding key is included. Accompanying the clock is a handwritten genealogical note detailing the ownership history within the Faulkner, Kothman, and Brake families of Ohio, with birth dates ranging from 1882 to 1955. While the maker mark on the dial is illegible due to wear, the design and construction are characteristic of the Tampa model by the Waterbury Clock Company or similar American clockmakers of the late Victorian era.
