French Louis XVI Style Gilt Metal Mantel Clock 12”X17”X25” - A late 19th-century French mantel clock designed in the Louis XVI Revival style. The case is constructed from cast gilt metal and features extensive ornamentation including multiple mascarons: a lion mask positioned above the dial, a central female face, and a bearded figure with an open mouth at the base. The crest is adorned with winged mythical creatures and scrollwork, while the sides feature pierced fretted panels. The clock is supported by four scrolled paw-style feet. The circular white enamel dial is set with black Roman numeral hour markers and an outer track with Arabic numeral minute markers in five-minute increments. The dial includes two winding apertures and is fitted with ornate dark metal hands. The internal mechanical spring-driven movement is designed for a pendulum suspension and strikes on a bell. The backplate of the movement is stamped with the digits 773. A small mark is present within a rectangular cartouche on the upper rear ornament, though the characters are not clearly legible. The clock is accompanied by one modern T-shaped winding key.
