Ansonia Clock Co. Enameled Cast Iron Mantel Clock, Late 19th Century 6”X11”X9” - This late 19th-century mantel clock was manufactured by the Ansonia Clock Co. of New York. The case is constructed of black enameled cast iron in a rectangular form with a stepped base and a flat top. The front panels and base are decorated with incised linear and fleur-de-lis patterns. The circular dial is composed of embossed gold-tone metal featuring black Arabic numerals and two winding arbors located at the four and eight o'clock positions. The brass mechanical movement, visible through the rear access door, is stamped with the characters ANSONIA CLOCK CO. NEW-YORK and PATENTED JUNE 18, 1882. The interior mechanism contains a coiled wire gong and a pendulum. A hinged metal bezel is present on the front, although it lacks its glass panel. No measurements or weights are provided.
