E. Thomas and Williams Ltd. Cambrian Brass Miner's Safety Lamp, No. 7541 4”X10” - A vintage brass miner's safety lamp produced by E. Thomas and Williams Ltd. of Aberdare, Wales. This Cambrian model is constructed from cylindrical brass with a glass-enclosed lower combustion chamber protected by five vertical brass guard rods. The upper chimney section features an applied oval brass maker's plate embossed with the following text: E. THOMAS and WILLIAMS LTD (top arc), CAMBRIAN (upper center), No 7541 (lower center), and MAKERS ABERDARE WALES (bottom arc). The plate also displays a central motif of the Prince of Wales feathers. The chimney is topped with a domed cap and a large, articulating brass suspension hook. The upper edge of the base is stamped MADE IN WALES. The lamp contains an internal wick and an adjustment mechanism with a control wire accessible through the underside of the base.
