Seth Thomas 8-Day Column and Cornice Shelf Clock 5”X11”X17” - This shelf clock was manufactured by Seth Thomas in Thomaston, Connecticut, as identified by the original manufacturer label on the interior backboard. The wooden case features rosewood or figured mahogany veneers in the Column and Cornice architectural style. The design includes two vertical columns with gold-painted capitals and bases supporting a heavy molded cornice at the top. The rectangular dial is finished with black Roman numerals and contains two winding arbors for the time and strike mechanisms. Below the dial, a wood-framed glass door covers a secondary rectangular panel and a circular, brass-rimmed pendulum window at the base. The 8-day mechanical spring-driven movement is designed to strike on a coiled wire gong. The interior includes a printed paper label with instructions for setting and regulating the movement.
