Victorian Rococo Revival Style Red Velvet Parlor Armchair 27”X31”X41” - FOR PICK UP OR TRANSPORT ONLY: A Victorian Rococo Revival style parlor armchair, likely a 20th-century reproduction in the 19th-century taste. The frame is constructed of a dark-stained hardwood with a high-gloss mahogany-toned finish. The chair is upholstered in a vibrant red velvet. The tall balloon-shaped back features a combination of vertical channel tufting and central diamond-tufted buttoning, with the reverse side also being fully upholstered. The crest rail is decorated with an intricately carved design of central roses flanked by smaller blossoms and scrolling foliage. The chair features low, padded arms and stands on two front cabriole legs with scroll feet and two splayed rectangular rear legs. The upholstery is finished with a decorative gold-and-red gimp trim. This piece is visually consistent with parlor furniture produced mid-century by makers such as Kimball.
