American Two-Tone Stoneware 5-Gallon Jug Attributed to Western Stoneware - This is an antique American stoneware jug with a five-gallon capacity, attributed to Western Stoneware of Monmouth, Illinois, based on the distinctive numeral font and two-tone glaze style. The vessel is constructed with a large cylindrical body and a rounded shoulder that tapers into a narrow neck with a single integrated strap handle. It features a classic two-tone finish, consisting of a dark brown slip glaze on the upper portion over a light gray bristol-glazed body. The front of the jug is marked with a stamped cobalt blue numeral 5. The base is flat and unglazed, exhibiting typical firing marks and surface staining.
