Five-Gallon Brown Slip Glazed Stoneware Jug - Large stoneware jug featuring a bulbous body tapering to a short, wide neck with a heavy, rounded rim. The vessel is finished in a dark brown Albany-type slip glaze with a glossy appearance, characteristic of 19th and early 20th-century American utilitarian stoneware. A single, stout loop handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. The shoulder of the jug features a hand-incised numeral 5, indicating a five-gallon capacity. The interior of the jug is also glazed.
