Crosley Model 515 Tombstone Tube Radio - A vintage Crosley Radio Corporation Model 515 tombstone-style tube radio, manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio, circa 1934-1935. This model, often referred to as The Fiver, features a wooden cabinet with a light-colored veneer front face, vertical decorative grooving, and four brown bakelite control knobs. The top and side panels are finished in a dark reddish-brown stain or paint. The front includes a decorative wooden speaker grille over black cloth. A circular airplane-style dial is set behind glass with a gold-tone bezel, featuring the Crosley logo, a radio tower, and two globes. The dial provides scales for the standard broadcast band (55-150) and a police band (1.6-3.5). The internal chassis houses five vacuum tubes, including a Cunningham Radiotron, and a yellow Aerovox Hi-Farad dry electrolytic condenser. A metal identification plate on the rear of the chassis lists the manufacturer, model number 515, serial number J3043961, and technical specifications for 100-125 volts AC at 55 watts and 60 cycles.
