Late 19th Century Victorian Gilt Gesso and Wood Wall Mirror with Velvet Liner - This late 19th-century Victorian-style wall mirror features a rectangular form with a substantial frame constructed of gilded wood and composition gesso. The wide, ornate profile displays dense high-relief embossed patterns of repeating foliate scrolls, acanthus leaves, and small floral blossoms. A distinctive dark brown velvet-covered inner slip liner is situated between the main frame and the mirror plate. The reverse side shows traditional period construction with a solid wood plank backing held in place by nails and glazier points. A hanging wire is attached to the back.
