Zenith 1938 Console Floor Radio with Shutter Dial - SHIPPING NOT AVAILABLE, FOR PICK UP OR TRANSPORT ONLY - This is a vintage console floor radio manufactured by the Zenith Radio Corp., dating to approximately 1938. The cabinet is constructed of wood with walnut veneers, featuring an Art Deco or Streamline Moderne design with curved waterfall edges and contrasting grain patterns. The front face features a large circular Zenith Long Distance shutter dial, also known as a Robot Dial, which mechanically changes scales when the band is switched. The dial includes a Magic Eye tuning indicator tube at the top and scales for Standard Broadcast, Police, Amateur, Ships, and Aviation bands. The dial face is marked ZENITH LONG DISTANCE and includes US patent number 2076031. The rear of the unit reveals a multi-tube chassis with several vacuum tubes, including those with markings for GE General Electric and M-R. The speaker housing features a triangular label marked ZENITH ACOUSTIC ADAPTER.
