Sparton Model 301 Spanish Revival Carved Wood Radio Console - SHIPPING NOT AVAILABLE, FOR PICK UP OR TRANSPORT ONLY - A Sparton Model 301 A.C. Receiver radio console manufactured by The Sparks-Withington Co. of Jackson, Michigan, circa late 1920s. The single-piece cabinet is constructed of dark-stained wood, featuring elements of Spanish Revival and Jacobean style. The upper section contains double doors decorated with elaborate high-relief carvings of neoclassical urns, acanthus leaves, and floral motifs. The doors are flanked by carved foliate pilasters and topped with a dentil-molded cornice. A frieze with carved geometric rectangular panels runs below the doors. The console is supported by an integrated stretcher base with four turned and carved legs joined by a bottom shelf, featuring a central carved arched apron. The cabinet doors open to reveal an internal radio interface with a circular speaker grille featuring a stylized shield design. The control panel includes a vertical tuning dial marked Sparton with enameled sunflower accents, two small knobs, and one large central knob. The reverse of the cabinet retains the original electronics, including a chassis with vacuum tubes and a speaker manufactured by The Magnavox Company of Oakland, California.
