A Pair of Norleans Italy Cobalt Blue and Gilt Ceramic Lidded Urns with Cherub Relief - A pair of decorative ceramic lidded urns manufactured in Italy and imported under the Norleans brand. Each vessel is of baluster form, resting on a square pedestal base. The urns feature extensive high-relief and bas-relief neoclassical ornamentation. The central body of each depicts a continuous landscape scene with groups of putti dancing and playing. Two figures are molded in full relief to serve as handles on the sides of the neck, while the domed lid is topped with a seated cherub finial. Two more cherubs are positioned at the base of the main vessel, appearing to support its weight. The decoration utilizes a deep cobalt blue glaze in the background and recessed areas, contrasted with cream-colored relief figures. A light brown wash is applied to the white areas to define the molded details. Hand-applied gold gilt accents are present on the shell-molded neck, rims, pedestal, and lid.
