Japanese Nippon Era I.E. and C. Co. Moriage Porcelain Twin Handled Vase - A Japanese porcelain twin handled vase produced during the Nippon era featuring elaborate moriage decoration. The vessel displays a lobed baluster form with a scalloped rim and two scrolling handles. The exterior is decorated with a hand painted grapevine motif, characterized by heavily gilded leaves and clusters of grapes accented with raised enamel beading. The handles are finished in a sage green glaze with gilded highlights, and the rim is finished with a dark teal trim. The base features a green printed mark with a laurel wreath surrounding a diamond shape containing the letters I, E, and C. The words Hand and JAPAN are printed above the wreath, and the word Painted is printed below, identifying the piece as an import of the Import Exhibition and Commission Company.
