A Collection of Six Vintage Japanese Glazed Ceramic Poultry and Waterfowl Salt and Pepper Shakers - A collection of six vintage Japanese ceramic salt and pepper shakers arranged in three pairs, featuring farm and waterfowl motifs. The set includes two mallard-style ducks, two turkeys, and two chickens. The items are constructed from glazed earthenware and were manufactured in Japan for the export market. The duck pair consists of one bird in an upright calling pose and one in a resting pose. They are decorated with hand-painted shades of green, brown, and cream with pink highlights on the breast. The bases are marked JAPAN in ink and retain their original cork stoppers. The turkey pair features one bird in a strutting pose with a full fan tail and one bird in a feeding pose with its head lowered. These pieces are finished with a black and white barred feather pattern, pinkish-purple heads, and bases painted in green and yellow to represent grass. The undersides bear the stamped mark MADE IN JAPAN. The feeding turkey includes a cork stopper, while the strutting turkey is missing its stopper. The chicken pair features two rounded, stylized birds glazed in bright yellow with red combs and wattles and brown accents on the wings and tail feathers. The bases are marked JAPAN and are fitted with grey plastic stoppers.
