WELCH ALLYN DURASHOCK DS54 BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR NEVER USED - The DS54 features an air release valve with a traditional decompression screw. By creating a gearless design, Welch Allyn developed the DuraShock™, a sphygmomanometer with few moving parts, shock-resistant and lighter than traditional sphygmomanometers. Until now, a sphygmomanometer dropped on the floor required calibration or replacement. However, the DuraShock™ sphygmomanometer can withstand drops of up to 76 cm onto a hard surface while remaining calibrated. It is the only sphygmomanometer capable of meeting the requirements of AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) shock testing. In the traditional design of an aneroid sphygmomanometer, a delicate system of gears and springs converts and amplifies the vertical movement of the pinion into rotary motion to rotate the needle. The DuraShock™ design does away with gears and uses a simple helical spring to directly convert the pinion's vertical movement into needle rotation, without relying on a multi-phase gear system. • Shock resistant to maintain accuracy with a lower lifecycle cost • Latex-free • Screw-on deflation system
