1798 Cassini Map of Peru & Ecuador, Decorative Title Cartouche, Tribal Warfare, Original Colour - This rare 18th-century map of Peru and Ecuador, titled Il Peru con i Paesi Circonvicini Delineato sulle ultime osservazioni, was created by Giovanni Maria Cassini and published in Rome in 1798. The map is adorned with a large, pictorial title cartouche depicting tribal warfare, highlighting Cassini’s unique artistic style. A part of Cassini's Nuovo Atlante Geografico Universale, printed on heavy paper and featuring original colouring. Published during a time when the market demanded more scientific and affordable maps, Cassini’s luxury works were less successful and therefore scarce.
