1788 Cassini Map of Asia, Pictorial Title Cartouche, Original Colour, Rare 18th Century - This uncommon 18th-century map of Asia, titled L'Asia Secondo Le ultime osservazioni Divisa ne'suoi Stati Principali, was created by Giovanni Maria Cassini and published in Rome in 1788. The map features original colour and is adorned with a large, decorative pictorial title cartouche, showcasing Cassini’s artistic style. Part of his Nuovo Atlante Geografico Universale, Cassini’s maps were luxury pieces, printed on heavy paper and intended for a more affluent audience, but were published at a time when the market favored more affordable and scientific maps, resulting in low sales. As a result, Cassini's maps are rare. Ideal for collectors of 18th-century maps of Asia and historical cartography. Condition: Good example. Size: 34 x 48 cm (13.4 x 18.9 inches).
