Unusual 18th Century World Map by Isaac Brouckner, ”Carte Generale du Globe Terrestre”, 1761, Coloured - This striking 18th-century world map, titled Carte Generale du Globe Terrestre, was created by Isaac Brouckner (also spelled Bruckner) and published in Venice by Remondini in 1761. The map is presented on Mercator's Projection, centered on the Pacific Ocean, and features early representations of Australia and New Zealand based on Tasman's discoveries. Notably, the map includes some peculiar cartography in the northern parts of America, particularly the ”Mer de l'Ouest,” showcasing the evolving geographical knowledge of the time.
