Castiglionis Oppidum by Johannes Blaeu, 1682 - Castiglionis Oppidum is a beautiful 17th-century prospect of Castiglione Torinese in Piedmont, published by the heirs of Johannes Blaeu in Amsterdam in 1682. This fine original colour map, enhanced with gold highlights, offers a detailed view of the town from the Po River, dominated by a grand Baroque palace and ornamental gardens within its walls. The map was included in the fourth volume of Blaeu’s Townbooks of Italy, titled Pedemontium Florentissimum Italiae Latus, published posthumously after Blaeu's death. Later editions were published by Moetjens, Mortier & Alberts. The colour quality is exceptional, with the town's armorial highlighted in gold.
