Important map of Iceland ”Tabula Islandiae Auctore Georgio Carolo Flandro” - An exquisite example of Blaeu's iconic map of Iceland, enriched with intricate decorative elements including marine monsters, a sailing ship, two wind roses, and detailed cartouches. The map features the volcano Hekla prominently and offers a rich depiction of Iceland's topography and mythology. Dutch text on the verso. Amsterdam c, 1640. Blaeu. Condition: Staining to the top part of the map, a repaired tear in the right margin, and a small tear in the top right of the image. Signs of foxing. Size of image: 38 x 50 cm (15 x 19.7 inches).
