DOPPELMAYR, - Very decorative celestial chart of the Solar System according to Copernicus, with the orbits of the six known planets and their satellites, and a final ring with the signs of the Zodiac. The top left is a depiction of the relative sizes of the Sun and planets; bottom left a diagram showing where upon the globe the 1706 solar eclipse fell. From Doppelmayr's 'Atlas coelestis in quo mundus spectabilis et in eodem.' published in Nuremberg, Homann, c.1742. Hand colour. 485 x 565mm. Condition: Split in upper and lower centre fold repaired.
