Minhagim. Riva di Trento [1559]. Fine, Important Copy - The first edition of Minhagim by the Rav of the Maharil and the Mahari Tyrnau, Rabbi Avraham Klausner,   which inspired many other books of customs - a rare and invaluable book.  Sefer Haminhagim on which Rabbi Avraham authored his glosses is apparently an early compilation of ritual customs from France and Germany over the course of many years to which glosses by varied rabbis were added. The glosses in the book are based on Siddur Rashi and Machzor Vitri, the customs of the Mahram of Rottenburg, the Tashbetz, the Mordechai, the Rosh, Hagahot Ashrei, Hagahot Maimaniyot, Tur Orach Chaim and more.  Rabbi Avraham quotes the sources indicating the ritual customs, thus making his personal view on the subject unclear. This style often forms an early indication of a different version of ancient Ashkenazic Psikah books Apparently, Sefer Haminhagim inspired his disciples, the Maharil and the Mahari Tyrnau, to author additional books of ritual customs and distribute their Torah. Rabbi Avraham's words and customs are frequently introduced in his disciples' books.   Rabbi Avraham Klausner (1340-1409): served as Rav and apparently Rosh Yehshiva in Vienna in the 14th century. According to his disciple Rabbi Isaac of Tyrnau, Rabbi Avraham authored glosses on an ancient book of ritual customs based on the Jewish calendar beginning with the month of Elul. In addition, he authored a book dealing with HIlchot Shechita and Bedika. His disciples, the Maharil and the Mahari Tyrnau, authored the most influential and well-known books of ritual customs in the following centuries. Both frequently introduce the Torah of their leading Rav, Rabbi Avraham Klausner. His Psikot also appear in writings of other Ashkenazic sages including the Mahari Weil.
