Midrash Rabot. Amsterdam, [1725]. First Edition of the Foundational Commentaries on the Midrash. Impressive Copy. - Midrash Rabba on Chamisha Chumshei Torah and Chamesh Megillot, with four commentaries that were printed on the sheet of the Midrash. Many of the following editions of Midrash Rabba are based on this one.  First edition of the following commentaries:  Zera Avraham - by Rabbi Avraham of Gluga, the son of the author of Yedei Moshe.  Mishnat Rabbi Eliezer - by Rabbi Eliezer of Pintshov.  Two additional commentaries were also printed:  Matnot Kehuna - by Rabbi Yissachar Ber ben Rabbi Naftali Katz.  Yedei Moshe - by Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Helin Ashkenazi.  The title page of the book is one of the most beautiful ones printed in Amsterdam - beautiful copper-engraved illustrations of Biblical figures and scenes including Moshe and Aharon, Yaakov's Dream, David playing the harp and more.  With important approbations including by Rabbi Naftali Katz, the author of the Semichat Chachamim.  On the title page of the book, an ownership notation in ancient Ashkenazic script, with an erasure attempt on it. Impressive, ancient leather-covered wooden binding with traces of buckles (one buckle exists).
