Peirush Lemidrash Harabot MeHaTorah. Krakow, [1569] - Pedigreed copy of a rare book that was never auctioned - commentary on Midrash Rabba by Rabbi Naftali Hirtz ben Menachem of Lemberg. The personal copy of Rabbi Yehuda, the son of the Gaon Rabbi Yochanan Giron - Av Beit Din of Casale and Florence from more than forty years [since 1711 - in which his father, Rabbi Yochanan Giron Av Beit Din fo Florence, passed away]. The book Peirush Lemidrash Harabot is the first book that was printed by Rabbi Yitzchak of Prostitz. Yitzchak Yudlov, Ginzei Yisrael 894: Yitzchak of Prostitz came to Krakow in 1568 bringing with him typographic material from Venice and the editor Shmuel Pihem, who previously worked as a printer in Italy. This book is the first that was published by them. On the top of leaf 2, an ownership notation of Yehuda, the son of Rabbi Yochanan Giron of Florence - Av Beit Din of Casale and Florence. Krakow, [1569]. 36 leaves. Good condition. Restored title page. A considerable part of the leaves of the book was restored - filling-in of wormholes and some completions of the edges.
