Noda BiYehuda Tanyana. Prague, [1811] - The personal copy of the Noda BiYehuda's son and successor - Rabbi Shmuel Segal Landau. Pedigreed copy containing hundreds of glosses.  This book is of the most basic Shut books and appears in the bookcase of every Jewish home.  In his introduction, the author writes that he chose the title Noda BiYehuda to honor his father who was called Yehuda Landau. Another of his books is titled Tziyun Lenefesh Chaya (Tzalach) to honor his mother, the Rebbetzin Chaya Landau.  This copy:  This copy belonged to the Noda BiYehuda's second son and successor as Rav of Prague and Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Shmuel Segal Landau. In addition, an additional indication the book had belonged to the heirs of Rabbi Shlomo Wolf.  Inside the book, on the margins of the leaves, hundreds of scholarly glosses by a Talmid Chacham - not studied and not identified by us.  Among them, many lengthy glosses on several pages in dense script.  Many Gedolei Yisrael wrote glosses on this important book; some of them were printed in the new editions of the book. The Geonim whose glosses on the Noda BiYehuda were printed include the Gaon Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin author of the Nefesh Hachaim, Maran the Chatam Sofer, Rabbi Yitzchak Elchanan of Kovno, the Beit Halevi, Maran the Chazon Ish and many more.  Rabbi Shmuel Segal Landau (1750-1834) : the son of the Noda BiYehuda and his successor as Rosh Beit Din of Prague and Rosh Yeshiva there in the 19th century. Was a Posek and author. He wrote down some of his father's responses and published them after his passing in the second edition of the Noda BiYehuda.  Prague, [1811].  [6], 2-170, [1], 159, [1] leaves. Good overall condition. Tear to the title page not affecting the text. Some wormholes. Semi-detached binding with detached leaves.  Stefansky, Yesod 309.  An important volume with signatures and dedications and hundreds of scholarly glosses.
