Mantova [1622] - Single and rare edition - impressive copy in an original leather binding with embossments.  Sefer Masoret Habrit Hagadol, commentary on 1650 traditions by Rabbi Meir Engel. The Press of Yehuda Shmuel of Prussia. Mantova (Mantua) [1622]. The book contains sermons he had delivered over many years, which were based on the Masorah which is a commentary on the Bible based on the correct reading of the words. Published by the author.  Appearing at the end of the book is a short Kabballah-based prayer written by the author.   Rabbi Meir ben Rabbi Avraham Engel (1558-1630) - in his youth, immigrated from Sofia to Safed and became the disciple of Rabbi Shmuel Uzeda, Rabbi Chaim Vital, Rabbi Yisrael Saruk and Rabbi Elazar Azikri. Served as Rav of Kushta, as Chief Rabbi of Belgrade and as Chief Rabbi and Av Beit Din of Sofia. Author of the books Keshet Nechushah (1593), Masoret Habrit (1619) and Masoret Habrit Hagadol (1622).  84, 102 leaves. Good-very good condition. Leaves 1 and 89 of the second section are smaller than the rest of the leaves. Brown stains on several leaves. Gloss on leaf 65.
