Rabbi Avraham Toledano Manuscript- Prayers, Customs, and Unknown Poems. Meknes, 19th Century - Manuscript, a collection of prayers, poems, North-African customs, and Piyyutim, all handwritten by Rabbi Avraham Toledano - one of the rabbis of Meknes. Possibly, many poems and Piyyutim introduced in this manuscript are unknown and were never published. Approx. 170 leaves (several of them blank) with an interesting and important collection of customs of North-African Jewss, prayers they used to say on special occasions and the cycle of the year, many poems and Piyyutim for events, some of them authored by the sages of Meknes and its poets, including: Rabbi Yaakov Bardugo - the grandson of the Marbitz, Rabbi Mordechai Bardugo. Was Rav of Meknes, Rosh Yeshiva, Av Beit Din, Sho'el and Meishiv. The Mekubal Rabbi Shmuel Amar - Dayan, poet and Mekubal of Meknes. Author of Devar Shmuel and Shama Shmuel. Rabbi Shmuel wrote many books and Piyyutim, where became folksongs among the residents of his town. One of his well-known Piyyutim is a Piyyut of gratitude titled ”ארוממך אלי ואודה את שמך”, about a decree that was cancelled on Purim (included in this manuscript). Rabbi Raphael Abitbul, Rabbi Shlomo Mimran and more. The manuscript contains Piyyutim for the High Holidays, Brit Milah, Passover and Purim - including a humorous poem titled 'Eulogy for the Donkey' and more. Possibly, many poems and Piyyutim introduced in this manuscript are unknown and were never published. 340 pp (170 leaves). Very good condition. Simple, modern binding.
