Brutalist Silver Chanukkiya. Europe ca. 1950 - Rare Brutalist Hanukkah Menorah.  Brutalism is an architectural movement that developed from the Modernist architecture of the first half of the 20th century and was particularly popular between the 1950s and the 1970s. Brutalism is often seen as an architectural ethic, aimed at presenting and emphasizing the ”truth” of the building – material, formal, and functional truth. This search for the truth of the structure leads to leaving the building materials exposed and to a formal richness, sometimes utilizing natural light and simple, inexpensive materials. In this way, the ethic becomes the aesthetic. The structure of the Chanukkiya is modern and unique, made of quality cast silver. The Chanukkiya is placed on 4 diagonal stems.
