Rare and Important Silver Chanukkiya by the Famed Artist Jan Pogorzelski. Warsaw 1858 - Special and important collectible: impressive and quality Hanukkah Menorah handcrafted by the famed Polish silversmith Jan Pogorzelski. Jan Pogorzelski was a famed silversmith in Warsaw since the 1840s. Apparently, he became a Master in 1854. His workshop was located on 17 Bielańska in Warsaw. His works can be easily identified due to the unique hallmark with the name POGORZELSKI and the eliptic hallmarks with the head of a gazelle. This early work was made by him and has several hallmarks from 1858. The Chanukkiya is a back-plate one. The four stems of the Menorah are shaped like the feet of a vulture. On them, the wide base of the Chanukkiya is placed with the fonts and varied figures of animals screwed to it. 2 large lions, 2 tall palm tress with a couple of doves on them. a horse and gazelle and in the cneter, a vulture spreading its wings - all these decorate the base of the Menorah. Screwed on both sides of the top of the Chanukkiya are decorative elements of plants - branches of vine and bunches of grapes. Special, important collectible.
