Rare and important Pewter Plate for the Bride and Groom. Germany 1808 - An extremely rare and important piece of Jewish art. A high quality, artistic and very impressive plate. This rare example of a Jewish wedding plate is of great historical and artistic importance. ”משמח חתן עם הכלה” - pewter plate designed and made for a Jewish wedding.  In the center of the plate, a scene of a Jewish Ashkenazic wedding in Europe. Ornate decorations and plant motifs adorn the entire plate.  On the edges of the plate, a Hebrew engraving: עוד ישמע בהרי יהודה ובחוצות ירושלים קול ששון וקול שמחה קול חתן וקול כלה קול מצהלות חתנים מחפתם ונערים ממשתה נגינתם”.  On the back of the plate, a German pewter hallmark with the date 1808.  Diameter: 34.5 cm.
