A Spectacular and Important Silver Passover Plate. Alsace, 19th Century - A rare and artistic silver Seder bowl, made in Alsace in the 19th century. An ancient Jewish work of art made of massive silver and of great impression and splendor. The workmanship is wonderful and of wonderful quality. A combination of silver and artistic French textiles from the period. A Seder bowl is a traditional plate that is usually placed on the table on Seder night. Usually, the plate symbolically contains six foods that represent ideas related to the Passover Seder and the Exodus from Egypt. The Passover bowl consists of 4 levels. The lower three levels are pure silver trays on which the three matzos are placed at the Seder table. The upper and fourth level is artistic and decorated. Six silver Jewish figures holding six utensils for holding the food. The edges of the fourth level are decorated with high-quality silver sawing work in decorative motifs. The lower three levels are wrapped in an embroidered textile that surrounds the bowl and covers the matzos. Judaica items made in Alsace are particularly important and rare. Fully marked.  An extremely important collector's item.
