Jewish Women. Moshe Castel 1909-1991 - Charcoal drawing of figures of Jewish female in Safed. Moshe Elazar Castel (1909– 1991): was an Israeli painter. He studied at Bezalel between 1922 and 1925. During that time he studied with Yitzhak Frankel in Tel Aviv where he was influenced by modern French art. He studied at the Académie Julian and the École de Louvre in Paris. Castel returned to Israel and lived in Safed in 1940 and from this period until the end of his days was greatly influenced by the Jewish mystical spirit.
