“Yesod Minhagei Ashkenaz” – Mahari”l, Sabbioneta 1556 (First Edition) Mahari”ל (Rabbi Yaakov Segal Molin) – Halachic rulings, laws, and customs for the entire year, authored by Rabbeinu Yaakov Segal Molin (the Mahari”ל), together with the customs of his teacher, Rabbi Shalom of Wiener Neustadt. Printed in Sabbioneta, 1556 (שט”ז). First edition. This work is one of the foundational texts of Ashkenazic custom and is consistently cited in the rulings of the Rema (Rabbi Moshe Isserles). On the title page appears an Italian signature: “... the young Zechariah David Shabbetai Sagri, be strong ...” — referring to a distinguished Italian rabbinic scholar, author of a work on Pirkei Avot, and a disciple of Rabbi Yitzchak Berachia Sanguinetti. 116 leaves.
