מפרט - Sefer HaTerumah – Venice 1523 First Edition with Important Glosses and Ownership Signature Sefer HaTerumah, halachic rulings by Rabbi Baruch ben Yitzchak of Germaiza, one of the Tosafists, printed by Daniel Bomberg in Venice, 1523 (רפ”ג). First edition. At the end of the book appears an early ownership inscription: “…from the Lord I asked, says Yitzchak ben Todros Yosef, of blessed memory, Shapira [?] …” — likely referring to Rabbi Shlomo ben Todros Shapira, one of the leading sages of Frankfurt during the Maharshal’s time, listed among the city’s rabbis in 174 (see Rabbanei Frankfurt, p. 320). The volume contains several handwritten glosses noting textual corrections and cross-references. The identity of the scribe is unknown, but the handwriting has been verified as early, close to the time of printing. The title page reads: “Printed with great care, this distinguished book called Sefer HaTerumah…” The work is divided into sections covering laws of shechita, treifot, prohibitions and permissions, challah, niddah, gittin, chalitzah, idolatry, yayin nesekh, Torah scrolls, tefillin, and Shabbat. The book begins with a table of halachic headings, followed by the rulings themselves. Within the rulings are additional laws pertaining to the Land of Israel, beginning with the commandment to love the land: “For Zion I shall not keep silent, and for Jerusalem I shall not rest, until righteousness shines forth… for the Land of Israel is beloved, and blessed is the man who glorifies it… and all the more so, he who dwells there and observes the commandments connected to it, merits to be in the presence of the Holy One, blessed be He.” Rabbi Baruch ben Yitzchak of Germaiza, one of the Tosafists , emigrated to the Land of Israel late in life. Sefer HaTerumah is considered one of the fundamental halachic works, widely cited by later decisors. 139 leaves. 24 × 19 cm.
