Item Overview
Description:
Sefer HaChinuch, on the 613 Commandments, Venice 1523 – First Edition
Sefer HaChinuch provides explanations and ethical insights on the 613 commandments. Traditionally attributed to Rabbi Aharon HaLevi of Spain, though some suggest authorship by his brother Rabbi Pinchas or a student of the Rashba. Printed in Venice, 1523 – first edition.
This classic work was highly cherished, inspiring numerous commentaries, including the renowned Minchat Chinuch by Rabbi Yosef Babad, widely celebrated across Jewish communities.
The late Gaon of Vizhnitz, Rabbi Yeshua Moshe z”l, reportedly studied Sefer HaChinuch together with Minchat Chinuch daily.
179 leaves. Very good condition, minor worming on a few inner margins, slight trimming of titles on the last leaves with minimal text loss. Exquisite artisan full leather binding with elaborate gold decorations – a true masterpiece!
