Toras Moshe. The Alshich on the Torah. Prague, 1616. Rare! - Sefer Toras Moshe on the Torah by the Alshich HaKadosh. Presented here is his commentary on the Chumashim of Bereishis, Shemos, and Vayikra. Printed by Avrohom ben Shimon Haida, Prague, 1616. The Prague edition is listed in National Library in the Rare Books Collection and is rare even in comparison to the editions that preceded it. The works of the Alshich were received with great admiration among Torah scholars and constitute a cornerstone of Biblical commentary. His Toras Moshe is based on the derashos he delivered before his congregation, as he notes in his introduction to Sefer Daniel. He merited that alongside his name, the title ”HaKadosh” became sanctified among the people—Alshich HaKadosh—an appellation bestowed upon only a select few throughout the generations. ”If the people of Israel are not prophets, they are the sons of prophets.” At the conclusion of the edition, in the section on Kesuvim, appears the approbation of the Sheloh: ”Chitfu lochem ish ish miseforim eilu, bechesef moleh yitnehu lochem uvo tismechu vesogilu.” Collation: 219 leaves. Size: 31 cm. Antique leather binding. Paper restorations to the title page, age stains. Tear to one leaf with slight loss affecting the text. Good condition. Browned leaves. Leaves 131, 134–219.
