Ahavas Yehonasan, First Edition. Hamburg, 5526 [1766]. Two volumes. - Ahavas Yehonasan – Alon Bachos, by the gaon Rabbi Yehonasan Eybeshitz, comprising commentaries on the Haftaros, on the Haftaros of Sheva D’Nechemta, as well as a commentary on Megillas Eichah entitled Alon Bochus. This is the first sefer from the Torah works of the gaon Rabbi Yehonasan Eybeshitz to be printed after his passing. The work was printed in two volumes: Volume I — commentaries on the Haftaros from Parshas Bereishis through Parshas Devorim, including the Haftaros of the Four Parshiyos and festivals. Volume II — Alon Bochus, commentary on Sheva D’Nechemta and Megillas Eichah, followed by derashos on the Haftaros of Parshiyos Va’eschanan–Nitzavim. The section on the festival Haftaros, originally included in Volume II, was bound in the present copy into Volume I. Hamburg, 5526 [1766], First Edition. Rabbeinu, the mighty shepherd and pillar of halachic authority for generations, the holy gaon Rabbi Yehonasan Eybeshitz (5454–5524; 1694–1764) — among the greatest sages of the later generations and author of the renowned works Ya’aros Devash, Urim VeTumim, Kreisi U’Pleisi, and many other compositions. He served as rabbi of the distinguished communities of Prague, Metz, and AHU, and established many disciples in his yeshivah.
