Miniature Nevi’im u’Kesuvim in fantastic condition, including the rare volume of Tehillim. Paris, 5304–5306 [1544–1546]. - Nevi’im Acharonim and Kesuvim in a particularly splendid and exemplary edition, printed in miniature pocket format in the press of the renowned royal printer Roberto Estienne (Robert Estienne). The French Estienne family, active in Paris and Geneva, is considered one of the most illustrious dynasties of printers in history. The family patriarch, Robert, was awarded the coveted title “Printer to the King, ” and his books became renowned throughout Europe for their artistic beauty and professional precision. The well-known bibliographer Schreiber (Schreiber, Estienne 82) greatly praises this copy, noting: “This pocket Tanach has always been regarded as one of the most impressive and magnificent examples of Hebrew printing from the French Renaissance period… the edition is extremely rare, and it is almost impossible today to find a complete copy in good preservation.” The present copy comprises Nevi’im and Kesuvim (without Torah), in very good condition, in original leather bindings with gilt tooling on the spines, and, as Schreiber attests, it is an exceptionally rare gem. Includes the rare volume of Sefer Tehillim, with index pages for the psalms. Apart from Divrei HaYamim, all pages of the remaining volumes are artistically framed by hand with a fine decorative border, adding distinction and beauty. Paris, 5304–5306 [1544–1546].
