Koheles Moshe — “Collected teachings from the geonim of the time, most significantly from the Ish Elokim referred to as Rabbi Shimshon of Ostropoli, ” Lemberg, 5618 [1858]. - Sefer Koheles Moshe — “Behold this is a new matter which this man Moshe brought us… who weighed, investigated, collected, and gathered with both hands from the geonim of the time… and most significantly from the man of God, called Rabbi Shimshon of Ostropoli… compiled by the renowned preacher Rabbi Moshe… resident of the community of Tschudnov.” On the title page: ownership inscriptions — “The esteemed Rabbi Yitzchak, son of the honored Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov, may he live.” Several glosses within the book. The holy mekubal, the divine Rabbi Shimshon of Ostropoli hy”d (c. 5400–5408), among the great mekubalim of his generation, was killed al Kiddush Hashem in the decrees of 5408–5409, while wrapped in tallis and tefillin in the synagogue (see Yeven Metzulah by his student Rabbi Natan Nota Hannover). His descendants include leading figures of Chassidus, among them the author of Toldos Yaakov Yosef, Rabbi Yaakov Shimshon of Spitkov, Rabbi Meshulam Feivush of Zabriz author of Yosher Divrei Emes, Rabbi Chaim of Kosov, and others. New binding. 22 leaves. Age stains. A single wormhole on the final leaf without loss to text. Trimming of pages has affected some headings. Good condition.
