First edition printed during the lifetime of the author. The personal copy of the holy gaon Rabbi Eliezer David Greenwald zt”l, author of Keren LeDavid. On the title page appears his holy handwritten signature: “Eliezer David”. Rabbi Eliezer David Greenwald, author of Keren LeDavid, younger brother and primary disciple of the gaon and kadosh author of Arugas Habosem. He received Chassidus from the Admorim of Belz and Shinova, and was counted among the leading tzaddikim and disseminators of Torah in Hungary of his generation. From all across the country, students flocked to his yeshivos, which numbered hundreds of talmidim. He was born in 1867 in Tschernah, Hungary. He studied primarily under his brother, the author of Arugas Habosem, and for a short time under the Chasan Sofer. After his marriage he founded a yeshiva in Bardejov, and later served as dayan and moyre horo in Szered and headed a large yeshiva. In 1907 he was appointed rabbi of Szehelyim, and later rabbi of Ober-Vishova, where he presided over a yeshiva numbering hundreds of students. In 1921 he was elected rabbi of Satmar, and concurrently headed the largest yeshiva in Transylvania. He was known as a great Torah authority and an exceptionally holy figure; his sermons and prayers were delivered with great emotion and tears, and he fought selflessly against those who sought to uproot religion. He passed away in 1928. His works include Shu”t Keren LeDavid and Keren LeDavid on the Torah and festivals, printed through the efforts of his devoted disciple and nephew, the Admor author of Vayechi Yosef of Papa.
