Edited and arranged by the renowned grammarian Rabbi Wolf Heidenheim of Rodelheim. Rodelheim, 5585 [1825]. Rectangular miniature edition. Rabbi Wolf Heidenheim (5517–5592 [1757–1832]), one of the foremost grammarians and correctors of the Biblical text in the later generations, utilized early printed works and accurate manuscript copies of Tanach, and became renowned for his extraordinary mastery and precision of textual tradition. His name became especially famous through the Chumashim, editions of Tehillim, and machzorim that he printed and edited. He also composed commentaries to piyutim, regarding which the Chasam Sofer wrote: “Were it not for him — the piyutim would already have been forgotten” (Kovetz Teshuvos, siman 48).
