Jerusalem, 5707 [1947]. At the beginning of the sefer is a lengthy dedication in the author’s own handwriting. The Gaon Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis [5624–5713, 1864–1953]: among the greatest geonim of his generation. Born in Lithuania, and at the age of seventeen went to study at the Volozhin Yeshiva, where he learned under his rebbi the Netziv, who referred to him as a “living Shas, ” and also under Rabbi Chaim HaLevi Soloveitchik. From his youth he was renowned for his exceptional genius. He served as Av Beis Din of Badaki and as Rav of Bakalvaria. In 5698 [1938] he ascended to Jerusalem to serve as Rosh Av Beis Din of the Edah HaChareidis, and from 5709 [1949] was appointed Gaavad, a position he held until his passing in 5713 [1953]. 132 pages.
