Me’orer Zikaron u’Me’asef HaMachanos — Altona, 5487 [1727] — a work for memorization and review of Talmudic sugyos (tractates of the Shas) — single edition. - Sefer “Me’orer Zikaron u’Me’asef HaMachanos” — abridgements and digests of sugyos of the Shas and teachings of the Rishonim. The name of the author does not appear on the title page; however, the work is attributed to R. Moshe Chagiz [the Meni”ach], author of Leket HaKemach. An approbation of R. Yechezkel Katzenellenbogen is printed on the verso of the title page. In the printer’s introduction, the book is praised, stating that a Torah scholar could, through this work, review the entire Shas within a single week. Altona, 5487 [1727]. First and rare edition. Library label of the “Daniel Salomon Wallich Klaus”. R. Daniel [Yechiel son of R. Shlomo] Wallach was a Torah scholar, philanthropist, and communal leader, among the heads of the Hamburg community and founder of the “Kloiz Yechiel Wallach” yeshiva, which he headed. His father, R. Shlomo Zalman Wallach, was one of the prominent philanthropists and communal leaders of Hamburg, and among the founding families of the Jewish community there. He was a disciple and close associate of R. Yonasan Eybeschutz, and supported him during the great controversy. He passed away in 5549 [1789], and in his will bequeathed one of his two houses for the maintenance of the kloiz and study hall. [75] leaves.
