Siddur “Derech HaChaim”, the foundational prayer book by the author of Netivot — second edition with new additions by the author! Altona, 5591 [1831]. - Siddur “Tefillas Yisrael” for the entire year and festivals according to the Ashkenazi custom, with “Derech HaChaim”, containing laws and customs by the Gaon R. Yaakov Lorberbaum, author of Netivot HaMishpat. The additions to Derech HaChaim were first printed three years earlier (Zolkiew, 5588), and subsequently appeared in numerous later editions. The present important edition is the author’s “second edition, ” including new additions sent by the Nesivos himself to the publisher. This edition is distinguished by the approbation of Rabbi Akiva Eiger, who notes that the author of Derech HaChaim authorized the printer Rabbi Chaim Falk to publish the siddur, and “also sent him additional new rulings to compile everything into a single volume.” His disciple, Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried, writes regarding Derech HaChaim: “It has been accepted throughout all the Jewish diaspora, and out of great love for its sanctity it has by now appeared in nearly all printing houses!” Altona, 5591 [1831], printed in the final year of the author of the Netivot HaMishpat (d. 5592). Pagination: 285 leaves. In this copy, the approbations leaf is bound at the end, without the preliminary leaves. An additional feature of this siddur is that it is the first to include Tractate Avos together with the commentary of the Gaon of Vilna on Avos, Shklov 5564. Size: 21 cm.
