Ketzos HaChoshen — the copy of the Gaon Rabbi Zalman Spitzer, son-in-law of the Chasam Sofer, and Rabbi Shmuel Horenfeld, grandson of the Chasam Sofer — with his handwritten gloss. Brünn, 5556 [1796]. - Sefer Ketzos HaChoshen, on Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat, Parts I and II, by the Gaon R. Aryeh Leib HaKohen Heller. Parts I and II bound together. The title page is dated 5556 [1796], though this dating is apparently inaccurate, and the book was in fact printed in later years (circa 5590). Copy of the Gaon R. Zalman Spitzer and R. Shmuel Horenfeld On the title page and the following leaf appear the signatures of the Gaon R. Zalman Spitzer, Av Beis Din of Vienna and son-in-law of the Chasam Sofer. Also on the title page and endpaper appear the signatures of the Gaon R. Shmuel Horenfeld, grandson of the Chasam Sofer and Av Beis Din of Mattersdorf. Additional ownership inscriptions appear on the title page and endpaper, seemingly belonging to members of their family or close circle. On leaf 13 (first pagination) appears an extended learned gloss in the handwriting of R. Zalman Spitzer. A significant rabbinic copy, originating from the circle of descendants of the Chasam Sofer. Specifications: 54, 26, 18, 62, 71–90 leaves. Old full leather binding, completely detached from the book, worn with minor loss to the spine. Stains and light wear at the page edges. Final leaf nearly fully detached. Fair–good condition.
