Exceedingly Rare! Seder Tikunei Shtaros. Hamburg, 1773. - Seder Tikunei Shtaros – a collection of versions of deeds and legal documents based on the sefer Nachalas Shivah, presented in Hebrew with parallel German translation, page facing page. Printed in Hamburg in תקל”ג [1773]. Title page: Sammlung von gerichtlichen jüdischen Contracten, rabbinisch und deutsch. The book was brought to print by Johann Georg Christian Adler and includes an introduction by the renowned scholar Olof Gerhard Tychsen (1734–1815), among the leading Hebraists in 18th-century Germany, a member of the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences, known for his extensive knowledge of rabbinic literature. According to his own testimony, he was apparently the only non-Jew to hold ordination conferring the title of “Chaver”. A distinctive feature of this edition is a rare engraved plate depicting a chalitzah shoe. At the end of the volume are eight pages of supplement containing the text of a get, a power of attorney authorizing the husband’s agent, and a document of refusal (shtar mi’un). Non-Hebrew script ownership markings on the binding and endpaper. Very good condition.
